New Meme: Bad Luck Edith

So, I've come up with a new meme...

You've all seen the "Bad Luck Brian" memes, right? You know, where it's a school picture gone wrong and how nothing goes right for this kid?

Well, I've taken this meme in a whole new direction...in a period drama direction...specifically to Downton Abbey.

Brace yourselves: who on Downton is known for having the worst luck ever? Lady Edith Crawley. Yes, poor Edith cannot seem to catch a break, and rumor has it that things will not be getting better for her in Series 5. So, with Photoshop and a little bit of time, I have created:

Saving Cousin Matthew: A Humorous Look at How Julian Fellowes Should Have Saved Matthew Crawley

As you all know, I'm still grieving over the loss of Cousin Matthew on Downton Abbey. But with the new series starting to air in the UK this weekend (though I have to wait until January), here is a little fun post for the rest of us that wish Matthew hadn't died.

Keep in mind this is supposed to be a half-humorous-half-should-have-been post. I'm half jesting here, so please don't take this too seriously. Yes, I know that Dan Stevens chose to leave the show and that he was free to do so and that Matthew had to be written out somehow... but hey, I'm jesting here.

C'mon, we all wish this was going to be a scene.
"Mary, if my son wants to be a lawyer, he is going to be a lawyer!"

The Downton Abbey Hipster

Many of your may have seen the internet memes featuring a character wearing thick glasses saying that they did something before it was cool. This meme, known as the hipster meme, as been turned into thousands of internet memes. After all this time, I finally got into the spirit of it and came up with a new meme.

Since Downton Abbey has been growing more and more popular and has gotten more into the limelight, I could not help but think that I liked it before it was cool (which is true since I liked it before it first won all those emmys). So, I created this meme:

That's right; those are little hipster glasses on each of the characters!

And here's the full size picture.

Enjoy!

404 Error and Period Dramas

We've all seen it: Error 404: Page Not Found!

As you may or may not know, I'm studying computer science in school. My particularly favorite class is Web Development. A little while ago, the 404 Error (Page Not Found) came up in class. One of the things you can do is customize the 404 Error in your website. Today, I had a brilliant idea: what if I combined the 404 Error and Period Dramas? So, with a little help from Photoshop and the internet, here's what I came up with.

Even More Period Drama eCards!

Okay, now I'm just having way too much fun with this! I created some more eCards (my first batch you can find here). So, here's my second batch (which I will be putting up on Pinterest again -- and I'm also having way too much fun with Pinterest!)

Reference: Cranford
Captain Brown: Major Gordon! Mrs. Forrester informs me that she will be more likely to come if you call out "Bessie, dearest."

Humorous ECards

So, you may or may not have seen the eCards popping up on the internet the past couple of months. Some of them are very funny, but there aren't as many period drama ones as there should be. So, to rectify the situation, I made a couple. And as always, they are clean (unlike some eCards floating around out there). What do you think?

Reference: Bleak House
That just got me: everyone fought over the Jarndyce and Jardyce inheritance so much that nothing was left by the end of it...

Mr. Collins: Challenge Accepted

So I'm on Pinterest and I found this picture that I just found hilarious! I had to pin it to my Period Drama Funnies board.

100 Things I Learned from Period Dramas

100 Things I Learned From Period Dramas

1. One should travel miles to go to London for a haircut.
2. Just because your matchmaking produced one happy marriage, doesn't mean you should make anymore matches.
3. When leaving town, always "look back at me".
4. Never leave lace in buttermilk on a table where a cat can get it.
5. During a proposal scene, always talk about the color of fruit.
6. Whenever you're in the neighborhood with your aunt and uncle, you can always feel free to explore the home of the man whose proposal you rejected.
7. In France, your tailors will betray you.
8. Life is not a Gothic novel... Learn this so you don't suspect your future husband's father of murder.
9. It is possible to read too many novels.
10. If a man cannot tie his own cravat, he must be up to no good!

Yet Another Period Drama Blog's Period Drama Button Contest

Miss Dashwood from Yet Another Period Drama Blog has a new contest for creating a period drama button with a funny saying. I thought I'd take a try at it:

Picture from Cranford, lyrics from Funky Town

Picture gotten from here
Picture from Emma, quote from Downton Abbey ("Well, so what? I have plenty of friend I don't like." - Lady Violet)

Picture from Pride and Prejudice, Quote from Northanger Abbey

Picture from Sense and Sensibility, Quote adapted from Lark Rise to Candleford

I am also going to slowly upload these onto my Tumblr page

LolPeriodDramas

Years ago, my sister introduced me to Lolcats. I didn't understand it at first, but now I've grown an appreciation for it.

In case you have never heard of Lolcats, let me tell you what they are. Basically, they are pictures of cats with captions. Usually these captions have very horrible grammar that looks like internet lingo (or lolspeak). The captions purposely have misspellings and bad grammar (which could be one of the reasons that I didn't get it at first: I'm very grammar conscious).

People have done Lolcats pictures with non-cat pictures. It really could be anything: dogs, TV shows... maybe even Period Dramas?

I've been experimenting with making Lol captions with period dramas. Let me know what you all think.

Who knows, if these are a success, I may start up a blog about them... but that might not be for a while.

Captions Anyone?

I've seen a couple of blogs would have caption contests, so I thought I would give it a try here and see how it goes. Who knows: if it goes well, I may do this more often. I have two pictures here...

Picture #1

Picture #2

You can have a caption for one picture or both, but make sure you specify which picture you are captioning. And as always, keep it clean.
