And to start off 200 Years of Pride and Prejudice, I have a poll for you all to answer! There are many fans of Pride and Prejudice out there and all of us have our favorite adaptations. Some of us are devotees to the 1995 miniseries starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle; others prefer the newer movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen; others say that the 1981 version is the way to go; or even that Greer Garson and Sir Laurence Olivier hits it right out of the park (*shameless baseball reference*). So what I'm asking all of you for the upcoming week is:
What is your favorite version of Pride and Prejudice?
1940 Movie (Greer Garson/Sir Laurence Olivier)
1981 Miniseries (Elizabeth Garvie/David Rintoul)
1995 Miniseries (Jennifer Ehle/Colin Firth)
2005 Movie (Keira Knightley/Matthew Macfadyen)
Other (Leave a Comment!)
Go and vote in the poll! You will find it located on the right sidebar under the poll section.
What is your favorite version of Pride and Prejudice? Why? Or do you have another version that you like that isn't up there? Leave a comment!
God Bless,
1995, of course... ;)
ReplyDeleteP&P95 Forever!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I do quite enjoy the 2005 version. Now, I'll admit, I wish it were longer and I wish that they could've done more character develeopment. But for it being a hollywood movie I thought it was marvelous. I believed that the acting was MUCH more believable and real than in previous versions, and Keira nailed the role perfectly. Plus, the music is to die for, I love movie score music and this is my favorite of all time.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite Pride and Prejudice adaptations are...
ReplyDelete1) 1995 starring Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy
2) The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
3) 1981 starring Elizabeth Garvie as Elizabeth Bennet and David Rintoul as Mr. Darcy
Definitely 1995!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the 1995 miniseries - Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth perfectly captured the Lizzy and Darcy I imagined when I read the book, and the costumes and sets are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteWhile at 1st 2005 was my favorite about 6 months ago I watched the 1995 version and now that is definitely my favorite!
ReplyDelete1995!
ReplyDelete1995!!
ReplyDeleteThe 1995 version will always be my favorite; it's what I grew up with. I also love the 1940 version not for how close it is to the book but because it will forever crack me up. I have been watching the 1981 miniseries via YouTube and I think that is a decent version as well.
ReplyDeleteAs for the movie that came out in 2005 that is called Pride and Prejudice... ugh!
1995 and 1940 versions
ReplyDeleteLike the BBC version because it has an all round better cast than the rest. Hill
