Comments? Like before, this is a regular blog post that you can comment on. Any tough polls? Rooting for anyone? Leave a comment.
Oh these are all tough! Poll #2 and poll #4 are really difficult to choose. I haven't voted in poll #4 yet because it's just so hard to decide! I'm going to go with Anne Elliot or Margaret Hale. Even though I love and identify with Margaret I'll probably go with Anne because she's an Austen heroine. Poll #1 was tricky too. I'm excited to see who wins! :)

Noooooooooooo! How am I supposed to choose between Emma and Elizabeth? It's an impossibility! The others were easier: Jane, Margaret (she was the only one I knew of from that round), Elinor (I like her), and Jane Eyre. But Emma and Lizzie? Impossible! (as Elizabeth would say)
ReplyDeleteA minute later...after much inner turmoil, I went for Elizabeth. But do I really like her better? Hmmmm. But I've known her longer than Emma...and she's usually...more perfect, so to speak. Emma is Jane Austen's imperfect heroine. If that makes any sense.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....#4 is impossible!!! I guess I'll decide between Margaret and Amy...but I like Anne too... And deciding between Emma and Elizabeth was sad. But I chose Lizzy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wish Marianne was getting more votes.
Nooooooo! I can't choose between Margaret and Amy!!! That is impossible!! What shall I do?? :D
ReplyDeleteThis was a little more difficult than the last poll. The heroines were rounded up to three which made it harder to decide which heroine to vote for. But still, it's another good round of polls.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you that this round was harder than last round. I think the easiest poll for most voters must be #3, since Elinor Dashwood is so popular.
ReplyDeletePoll #1 Jane Eyre, I admire the development of Marianne Dashwood's character but Jane has such an intellectual and independent spirit so my vote goes to her.
ReplyDeletePoll #2 Molly Gibson, I think she sets the best example.
Poll #3 Laura Timmins, Elinor Dashwood has a strong character but I admire how Laura moves forward to change her life through her writing
Poll #4 Margaret Hale! :)
Poll #5 Miss Matty because she under her meek and flustered demeanor she has courage and a kind, gentle heart
Charity, you don't know who Anne Elliot is?! Why, she's a Jane Austen heroine!! Shocking! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlayna - I KNOW! Exactly my problem! What shall we do indeed? (Eenie meenie minie mo? ...Just kidding.)
E. of F., Did you ever decide between Catherine and Amy in round 1? And will we only be able to select one character in the single poll in round 3?
Melody,
ReplyDeleteI did eventually vote in that poll (after much consideration). I chose Amy because I admire her hard-working personality.
Yes, in the next round, it will be one poll with five choices, and the top four will move onto the next round. I suppose that if it came to a tie for the last spot, I would probably randomly select who gets to go on.
Thank you everyone for your comments! Keep them coming! :-)
Melody, good point. I do know who Anne is. But I don't like her much...I don't know why I chose Margaret over Anne though! Not like I love Margaret either.
ReplyDeleteI know for me, in Poll #4 I picked Amy Dorrit; I'm not that big of a fan of Persuasion, and I haven't seen North and South yet (though my mom did buy the DVD recently, so I will be watching that sometime). And since I really liked Little Dorrit, I went with Amy in that one.
ReplyDeleteSad to see Amy Dorrit losing! :(
ReplyDeletePoll #1 is interesting...I think the reason that Mary Smith has so few votes is that people who like her probably like Jane Eyre, too. They have similarities, and I think people will tend to vote for the stronger of two similar characters.
I STILL haven't been able to decide on #4!! It's so hard! I put Anne Elliot out, although I would vote for her above some others. But between Margaret and Amy! If I'd READ Little Dorrit and North & South I might be able to decide better. But I've only seen the movies, and I like them both!! Oh, dear. But I feel a little disappointed when I see Amy behind...maybe that means I should vote for her. :) Although it looks like Margaret will win.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that you haven't seen N&S yet, Elegance of Fashion! It's my favorite E. Gaskell movie. :)
Melody,
ReplyDeleteHopefully soon I'll see North and South. I hear that it is good.
