Wednesday: Character Costume Highlight: Lady Dedlock - Period Drama Fashion Week

Today's Character Costume Highlight is Lady Honoria Dedlock from Bleak House.

A little about Lady Dedlock
Lady Honoria Dedlock (nee Barnaby) is married to Sir Leicester Dedlock, Baronet. Lady Dedlock holds a secret from Sir Leicester which could ruin the entire House of Dedlock. Unfortunately, it is not just her secret: Sir Leicester's lawyer, Mr. Tulkinghorn, also knows the secret and enjoys having power over Lady Dedlock.

  1. Both dresses are quite elegant! It is very difficult for me to pick a favorite!

  2. I love the green one. The lace around the neckline is sublime. What is the time period on this? I may have to watch this show and see if I can make this now. So pretty!

    1. I'd say the fashions are 1840s-ish...maybe early 1850s? The skirt doesn't look like it's being supported by a hoop, so it would be between 1840 and 1858: that would be my estimate.

I recommend Bleak House! It can be dark, but the story is really interesting. Careful though: you might run through all the episodes too quickly like I did. ;-)
