Our next event for Period Drama Week will be the Period Drama Trivia Challenge! Here I have fifty questions about different period dramas. See how many you can answer!
Rules:
- You get one chance to submit your answers.
- Go through as many questions as you can. If you don't know an answer, try to guess. You will not be deducted for wrong answers. You can leave the question blank if you do not know.
- Comment your questions in this post. I will not publish the comments, but I will record your answers. I will post a comment with how many everyone got right/wrong. It may help to subscribe to this post in the comments so you can see how many you've gotten right/wrong.
- The winners will be the top five people with the most correct. If there are more people who are in the top five than five, the rule of first-come-first-served will apply. For the five winners, I will make a special button for each one so they can post it on their sidebars. I will post those buttons in the concluding post for Period Drama Week, so you can pick it up then! The size will be 200 pixels by 200 pixels and will include your name/username/or blog name even and "Winner of Period Drama Trivia Challenge. If you want it to be bigger or smaller, let me know: I won't go smaller than 150 px by 150 pixels or bigger than 300 pixels by 300 pixels.

Melody,
I haven't gotten your answers in yet. Try sending them through again.
Oh dear! I do hate it when that happens. Why oh why didn't I save the Word document I was typing the answers out on? >.<
ReplyDeleteWell, fortunately I didn't 'check' any of my answers so I am still in ignorance as to whether or not I got them right! ;-)
And you may not have to deal now with as much rambling as I had in my original answers!
I sent them not 2 hours after my first comment...perhaps within 1 hour.
I'll type them soon...laundry is presently waiting to be hung out. :P
Miss Bennet, So very delightful to make your acquaintance. I found you through a mutual blog and am happy to become a follower, adding you to my own bloglist at The Writers Reverie:

I do hope you'll return to me the favor of a visit. As we enter the fall season, it is my very favorite season to cozy up with one of my period dramas. The trouble is - which one to choose! As we do not hook up to popular television and purchase select BBC period drama, I do have a growing collection. My latest is the fourth season of "Larkrise to Candleford" - of which I have thoroughly enjoyed the first three seasons. Of course, defaulting to our good Miss Austen's novels on the screen is always a quality choice. One of my favorites is Persuasion - with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds.
I, too, enjoy period attire - I've a CIvil War ball to attend this month - but am sorely disappointed in what I have to wear. I simply did not have the time this summer to make a new dress. The one I have I've worn twice before to balls, and is far too plain for what I had hoped to wear this time - but it will do.
I look forward to your informative posts and to keep up with the "in" story on new period pieces.
BTW - any word on "Little Dorrit" with Derrick Jacobi out on DVD? It was an odd adaptation - but I loved it!
Joy!
Miss Kathy

Since I wasn't as clear in questions 13 and 45, I'll clarify here and make a post about it. If you've already submitted questions, I will allow you to reanswer 13 and 45. For 13, there was a line in Cranford that I was referring to: "There is ____ at stake!" For 45, I meant at the start of the novel Persuasion ("Sir Walter Elliot, of Kellynch Hall, in Somersetshire, was a man who, for his own amusement, never took up any book but the Baronetage"). I wasn't referring to any flashbacks. Hope this clears up! If you answer those questions correctly, I'll give you those points back. I'll post about this soon!
Kathryn Ross,
You have a very lovely blog! I know what you mean about popular television today: I'm very glad for the period dramas that we own. If you need help choosing a period drama to watch, you can check out the reviews that I have done. Feel free to ask any questions of what I would recommend.
For Little Dorrit with Derick Jacobi, I know it's on Netflix's Instant Streaming, but I haven't heard of it out on DVD yet. From looking at Amazon, it looks like it's available on VHS, but not DVD.
