Today's Character Costume Highlight is Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. Now, I have not seen Anne of Green Gables (but I would like to at some point), but the costumes look very good and a good example of Edwardian fashion.
A Little About Anne
Orphaned very young, Anne has spent her childhood unwanted in orphanages and homes. Her life turns around when she goes to live at Green Gables in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island, where she brightens up the lives of the old brother and sister who adopt her.

Dress #2 (Suggest a name?) Anne's Sensible Dress
Which of these two dresses of Anne's is your favorite? Or is your favorite one that isn't up here? Leave a comment!
God Bless,

Oh, my goodness - you must see Anne! It's not just a Movie - an an Experience of a Lifetime that you'll never forget!
ReplyDeleteThe first Dress should definitely be called Anne's Puff Sleeved Dress and the second, Anne's Sensible Dress, made by Marilla. Anne tells Marilla she can pretend that she likes it and begs her to make it with puff sleeves, but Marilla says it will be plain and sensible - just like her other school dresses.
My favorite Anne Dresses are.... the one she wears in Diana's wedding and the one she wears at the Dance in Kingsport. (Those may be in Anne of Avonlea!)
I hope you will have the joy of watching Anne someday! It is absolutely wonderful!
If you are interested, I have a review of "Anne", on my blog:

Thank you for such a lovely site! Your fashion posts have been so lovely. Your button is on my site - to promote it! God bless!
Thank you for suggesting names. I'll change them directly! I hope to watch Anne someday. The DVD collection I saw was fairly expensive, so maybe I can catch it on PBS one day.
DeleteAnd thank you for your compliment on my site. :-)
Ooh, I love Anne of Green Gables! My favorite dress in her first movie would definitely be her white organdie dress that she wears to recite. While I searched and couldn't find a picture of it, it reminds me of something you would like, and I certainly hope you get to see the series someday!
